Disaster Risk Reduction Training
This training course is based on disaster risk reduction (DRR) in order to sustain and strengthen Jordan’s socio-economic development.
Funded by the UNDP this training course aimed at strengthening good governance in DRR at the national level, improvepreparedness and national coordination for disaster response, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The three day applied and technical training was created and conducted for a group from the DRR platform. The training included the introduction of background risks in the area, risk assessment, socio-economic impacts, mitigation measures, urban planning and other aspects of disaster risk reduction. It included field visits throughout Jordan in high risk areas that may be prone to landslides, rock fall, flash floods and sinkholes.
The training also introduced the reasons disaster resilient development should be incorporated into future development planning processes.
